Safety acknowledgment
Safety before assistance
Version: 2026-08-07-testing-draft-1
Not emergency response: If anyone is in immediate danger, contact 911 or the appropriate local emergency service before using Trail Connector.
What every requester acknowledges
- A response is not guaranteed, and neither Trail Connector nor a responder guarantees arrival or a successful, damage-free recovery.
- Off-road travel, roadside activity, mechanical work, towing, winching, rigging, lifting, and vehicle recovery can cause serious injury, death, fire, environmental harm, or property damage.
- You remain responsible for deciding whether the terrain, weather, vehicle, recovery points, equipment, people, and proposed plan are safe.
- You choose whether to engage with a responder. You may decline an offer or end an interaction.
- Approximate location supports matching. Exact request coordinates are shared only through the accepted-helper workflow.
Safer decisions
Move people away from tensioned lines and traffic; use rated equipment and manufacturer-approved recovery points; communicate a stop signal; avoid standing in a line of pull; disclose injuries, fire, unstable terrain, water, traffic, hazardous cargo, or other urgent conditions; and stop if anyone is uncertain.
Trust signals
Email and phone verification confirm control of those contact methods. Other labels mean only what they state. Ask questions about the helper’s plan, vehicle, equipment, experience, timing, and limitations before accepting.
Report concerns
End the interaction if you feel unsafe. Contact emergency services when appropriate, preserve relevant information, and use Trail Connector’s report and block controls.
